Acting President – Americas & Global Fibers

Lyndon Smith is Acting President – Americas & Global Fibers at Hexcel. Lyndon joined Hexcel in 2012. He is responsible for the overall strategy, financial performance, operations, program execution, and profitable growth of the Americas and Global Fibers business unit. Prior to his current role, Lyndon held various other leadership positions within Hexcel, most recently serving for two years as the Vice President of Commercial Aerospace for the business segment, preceded by nine years as Senior Vice President of Global Fibers, and one year as Group Manager for Matrix at Hexcel Salt Lake City. Throughout his tenure at Hexcel, he was responsible for ensuring growth across a multitude of customer-centric business segments and mentoring and leading highly dedicated team of sales engineers and technical experts in the development and production of Hexcel advanced composite materials.

Lyndon moved to the United States in 1986 after studying chemistry and graduating from the University of Hertfordshire. Following research work in petrochemicals early in his career, Lyndon transitioned into aerospace, where he took on increasing responsibilities in marketing and general management of various business units, including partial ownership of an aerospace distribution company.

Lyndon is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and is a Chartered Chemist, with advanced degrees from Columbia University in Marketing Management (1988) and Finance Management (1990), as well as from INSEAD (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires, France, 2004), and from IESE (University of Navarra, Barcelona, 2005). He is also a member of the Utah aerospace and defense association 47G, and a founding member of the association’s Air Logistics and Travel Alliance, or “Project Alta,” which is focused on the development of lightweight composite Advanced Air Mobility electric vehicles for Utah and beyond.
